Charlotte Sertic is an artist based in Nyon, Switzerland.
Chasing colour
Charlotte paints landscapes mostly in oil, working both outdoors and in the studio. Some paintings begin in plein air, on site, chasing the particular colours that nature takes.
Others take shape indoors, based on specific areas she went to.
Part of why she paints is an obsession with representing colour. Part of it is presence; painting forces her to slow down and truly look at what's in front of her. She hopes it does the same for whoever is looking: that they stop, slow down, and notice the nature around them too.
When she paints outdoors, she plans out a hike, looking for landscape compositions to capture along the way. Working on a small canvas, she paints on the spot, in oil, laying in the larger shapes first before working toward the detail.
